RESOLVE TO CHANGE

Philippians 3:13                                     King James Version (KJV)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.
Beloved, life is designed to accommodate change.
Anything that fails to obey the law of change is bound to decay.
Just as a new born baby undergoes various reformation during childhood, and the caterpillar evolves into a butterfly;
So also are we as matured people expected to leave behind certain inherent acts and habits that have no impact on our growth or that of the people around us.
 “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day {Proverbs 4:18}

Secondly, as we encounter new days, months and years; we are expected to become bigger in our virtues, conducts, achievements, skills. Whatever good we performed yesterday, we should do better tomorrow. The skills we acquired a long time ago, we should have improved as the days went by;
The unhealthy habit that we inculcated several years back should be unlearned as time passes. Many people’s progress in life is simply a function of our resolution to change. So what are the factors that can promote this change?
   1.    Knowledge: “Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free” we are only able to convincingly act upon what we know. Some feats would
never be performed by a man when he is ignorant of his chances and instruments of success. Know who you are, and what you are capable of doing. And act in the capacity of that knowledge
   2.    Be dissatisfied with your present state:  A good way of getting rid of complacency is to develop a habit of being dissatisfied with your present position. Ferdinand Magellan and his crew were dissatisfied with the little evidence presented by scientist on the state of the earth’s shape. He decided to test out whether the earth was flat or not.
In sailing round the world, he not only discovered the earth was spherical but his exploit also brought about the discovery of the International date line.
   3.    Count the cost: In making a resolve to change, it’s essentially relevant to calculate the cost of your action and weight it against the cost of your inaction.
For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? {Luke 14:28}.
A thorough analysis of the facts surrounding our situations empowers our stance on the course of action to follow. For every situation in life, try to study the advantages and disadvantages of the current situation in which you do not take an action; also study the merits and demerits of taking an action to effect a desirable outcome. Weight these two together and decide what to go for.  Doing such helps boost your morale and keeps you aplomb.
   4.    Learn to take risks: A saying goes thus “the man who failed in a task is better than the man who never started” we might fail in some attempts; but yet in every failure, there always lie a lesson from which we can learn.

Sometimes, some risks we take might disprove our fear and ignorance and give us the courage we need to overcome any obstacle in life.
One truth I have come to realize is that, our successes resulting from taking chances in the little challenges we encounter help motivate us to become top achievers in the big field of life. There are therefore two sides of the risk coin
a.    You succeed
b.    You learn and move forward
   5.    Seek the Holy spirit as a guide: Job 32:8  The essence of the holy spirit is to guide us in all knowledge of the truth. Instructions come to us daily. But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. {Job 32:8}
 It’s up to us to develop a listening ear
to the voice of God which desires to inspire us unto good works. So many people have silenced or turned a deaf ear to that voice; therefore our generation as it may seem might appear to be full of innovations, but I tell you that there are more glorious life transforming innovations which never manifested because many have failed to be guided by the spirit of God.
Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came! {Amos 6:1}

God hates complacency

He has always tried stirring up His children with adversities to keep them on their toes. Therefore, as His product we must strive to reflect the creative nature of God. God bless you as you resolve to become better.
